Everything seemed wonderful but I got 1/2 size too big. I needed to exchange them for the correct size. VERY comfortable. I had been of the old way of considering boots had to be at least in part pointed with a high back again. But when I tried these on they were so much more comfortable that this above I think it's time for a change. likeEureka Mountain Pass 3XTE Tent: 3-Person 3-Season Cheap!

Another feature seen a growing number of on lanterns is the use of rechargeable batteries. Most campers favor rechargeable lights because "if you have less 'normal' batteries, you'll reduce expenses money".

Unfortunately, in many instances they're wrong!

Most rechargeable lanterns are fitted which has a 6 volt sealed lead acid battery with 3 little lead plates (cells), each cell providing 2 volt. Basically this battery is often a scaled down version of the car battery. These batteries don't like to be drained 'flat' and Eureka Mountain Pass 3XTE Tent: 3-Person 3-Season Cheap left in a state of discharge. Unfortunately that's how most campers treat their rechargeable lanterns. The lanterns are utilized until the light goes dim. In order to avoid damage, these lanterns needs to be re-charged to get a period of no less than 12 hours, either on 240 volt or 12 volt. Yet when you find yourself camping, 240 volt power is usually not available (if it was, you would not use rechargeable appliances, could you?). To take the car for a drive for 12 hours to be able to re-charge the lantern can be not an option.

So the lantern is put aside, taken home and left in the garage waiting to get recharged (and often forgotten about) and that is where the damage occurs. If battery is left flat, layers of sulphur will follow the little lead plates inside making it harder for electrons to stay to the plates. The other problem that may occur is the fact that sometimes the lead plates bend if your battery is left flat. If they bend far enough, one plate will touch another as well as a cell has been dropped, reducing the voltage by 2 volts. So now the battery can only create 4 volt, rather than 6. This is not enough to begin fluorescent lanterns, and it'll cause LED lanterns to malfunction.

What happens then?

Every year thousands of rechargeable lanterns are bought only to be thrown away inside a year because the rechargeable battery has seized. Many extra dollars are also wasted because a lot of people believe the challenge lies using the fluorescent tubes and purchase replacement tubes which still won't work with a dead battery. The 6 volt lead acid batteries can be replaced of all models of lanterns at a cost, sometimes greater than what the Eureka Mountain lantern cost to begin with.

Why don't manufacturers put better rechargeable batteries in their lanterns?

Manufacturers put lead acid batteries within their lanterns since they are CHEAP. In China, where these types of lanterns are made, these batteries are less expensive than Tents one dollar, therefore keeping the retail price low, that is what most consumers want in camping equipment. The alternatives are much more expensive. A suitable NiMH battery system inside rechargeable lanterns would raise the retail price 2 or 3 fold. Unfortunately most campers would will not pay $150 to $300 to have an appliance they'd only use a Eureka Mountain few times per year.

So, what could be the most practical solution to this problem?

If about to catch sure whether you can actually recharge your lantern regularly, you could be far better off getting a light that can run on alkaline, or better still, lithium batteries. You can always carry a spare set along with you and once you've returned home you are able to remove these batteries so that you can extend their life. You will spend some money on batteries but will probably save more money in the finish getting far more life from your lantern and it is far less frustrating.
