I pull all my camping gear out of the garage, closet and storage building and hang it in a big pile. I start packing my hatchback vehicle by putting my folded tarps around the bottom. My good housekeeping practice from my last campout means they are dry and folded nice and flat. My tarps protect my vehicle seats from getting dirty. I place in my tent, in its nicely zippered case, my sleeping bag, camp cot and folding chair. I have a plastic box that is about two feet square. A lot of smaller items use the box, like cooking utensils and mess kit. The camp box also serves as a Sierra Designs bedside table after the tent expires..I can stow it at the rear of my hatchback easily. An igloo cooler holds every one of the perishable food items and fits in my back seat. I put my cast iron skillets and dutch oven in plastic garbage bags, before packing, to hold my car clean. Dry food items, paper towels and mouthwash are stuffed in little corners and every now and then in the car. I also pack a couple of rugs.

Once my friend and I obtain the tent create, we bring most of our personal camping gear in to the tent. I put an area rug down in the front of the tent. This keeps us from tracking in dust and dirt from your boots. I place a greater rug inside the middle in the tent floor. We put our cots for the sides with the tent and enjoy the rug to walk on in the middle. This is great in the night when your feet are bare. It also helps protect the bottom in the tent. I bring a small whisk broom and dustbin to brush the floor with the tent, especially on the long campout. My camp cot is among those lightweight ones with an aluminum frame. It keeps me off the floor by about 6 inches possibly even. I put my shoes beneath the cot at bedtime. I also put my flashlight there so I can find it for that trip towards the latrine at nighttime.

The campout was obviously a lot of fun. You relaxed but got away from everyday activity. The week-end went too quickly. You broke camp and packed everything to bring it home. You need to unpack without delay when you get Sleeping Bag home. I know most people are tired and all sorts of you want is a shower, but another half hour now sets you in good shape for your next campout. Get all leftover food unpacked and place away in the fridge. If your tent was damp whenever you packed up camp, unroll it and hang it inside garage or someplace to dry up thoroughly. If you store a damp tent, mold will grow. Mold will give your tent that very musty smell and will also be hard to remove later. The same goes on your tarps. Lay them across the bushes or in the garage to allow them dry up completely. Fold your tarps neatly when they are dry, so they really are ready for the very next time. Is your sleeping bag OK? If it got wet, unzip it every one of the way and discover a way to allow it dry prior to deciding to roll up for storage. I put my camping dishes and utensils inside the Sierra Designs Zissou Plus 700 Sleeping Bag: 36 Degree Down Top Reviews dishwasher. Once they are dry, pack for the following trip.

Any cast iron Sierra Designs skillets and dutch ovens needs to be cleaned at the campfire. This is how. Scrap off of the excess food. Put some water into the skillet or dutch oven. NO SOAP! Let the water heat within the fire. Use a plastic scrubby, saved simply for cleaning cast iron wear, to get all the food off of the inside of it. Throw this water away. Rinse with clean water. Put the certain item about the fire and let it dry through the heat. Remove it in the heat and spray it with some PAM. Take a paper towel and spread the PAM all in the inside surface. Wipe off any excess. If you have let surefire wear rust, you are able to follow the same procedure over the fire, and scrub the rust away. Protect the cooking surface after some Pam. I do not clean the exterior of certain wear. It will just get sooty in the next fire.

Gather your dirty clothes and choose to use your laundry area. Now it is possible to take your shower. A little housekeeping goes quite a distance in having a prosperous campout. Have a good trip.
