Everything seemed fantastic but I got 1/2 size too big. I needed to exchange them for the proper size. VERY comfortable. I was of the old way of contemplating boots had to be at least partly pointed with a high back. But when I tried these on they were so much more comfortable that this above I think it's time for a change. likeYETI Ice - 2lb Best Price!

Another feature seen a growing number of on lanterns could be the use of rechargeable batteries. Most campers favor rechargeable lights because "if you utilize less 'normal' batteries, you'll cut back money".

Unfortunately, in most cases they're wrong!

Most rechargeable lanterns are fitted having a 6 volt sealed lead acid battery with 3 little lead plates (cells), each cell providing 2 volt. Basically this battery can be a scaled down version of the car battery. These batteries hate to be drained 'flat' and left in a state of discharge. Unfortunately that's how most campers treat their rechargeable lanterns. The lanterns are widely-used until the light goes dim. In order to avoid damage, these lanterns must be re-charged to get a period of no less than 12 hours, either on 240 volt or 12 volt. Yet when you're camping, 240 volt power is generally not available (if it was, you would not use rechargeable appliances, would you?). To take the car for the drive for 12 hours as a way to re-charge the lantern can be not an option.

So the lantern is put aside, taken home and left in YETI Ice - 2lb Best the garage waiting to be recharged (and in most cases forgotten about) that is certainly where the damage occurs. If the battery is left flat, layers of sulphur will go through the little lead plates inside so that it is harder for electrons to adhere to the plates. The other problem which will occur is always that sometimes the lead plates bend if the battery is left flat. If they bend far enough, one plate will touch another as well as a cell may be dropped, lowering the voltage by 2 volts. So now battery can only put out 4 volt, as opposed to 6. This is not enough to start fluorescent lanterns, and YETI Ice - 2lb Best Price also will cause LED lanterns to malfunction.

What happens then?

Every year hundreds of thousands of rechargeable lanterns are bought only to be thrown away in just a year since the rechargeable battery has seized. Many extra dollars are also wasted because many people believe the problem lies using the fluorescent tubes and buying replacement tubes which still won't work on a dead battery. The 6 volt lead acid batteries may be replaced of many models of lanterns at a cost, sometimes a YETI Ice - 2lb Best lot more than what the lantern cost to start with.

Why don't manufacturers put better rechargeable batteries of their lanterns?

Manufacturers put lead acid batteries within their lanterns since they are CHEAP. In China, where most of these lanterns are made, these batteries cost less than one dollar, therefore keeping the price low, which can be what most consumers want in camping equipment. The alternatives are far more expensive. A suitable NiMH battery system inside rechargeable lanterns would raise the retail price a few fold. Unfortunately most campers would will not pay $150 to $300 with an appliance they'd don't use anything but a few times per year.

So, what will be the most practical solution to this problem?

If you're not sure whether you can recharge your lantern regularly, you may be far better off buying a light that may run on alkaline, or better still, lithium batteries. You can always have a spare set together with you and once you've returned home you are able to remove these batteries to be able to extend their life. You will spend some money on batteries but will probably cut back money in the Camp Kitchen conclusion getting considerably more life from your lantern and it is far less frustrating.
